How do we - consciously or unconsciously – express our culture?

Which customs, traditions and forms of behaviour concur to form our cultural identity?
What image of ourselves would we like to transmit to others and how are we actually perceived by them?
To what extent is our understanding of foreign cultures still influenced by prejudices and how can they be replaced by genuine experience?
How deep is our knowledge of other European cultures and how can we come to a better understanding?

In a joint Comenius project together with students from Alleberggymnasiet, Falköping (Sweden) , I.T.P.A. Luigi Einaudi, Verona (Italy) and Zespół Szkół Przemysłu Spożywczego i VIII LO, Toruń (Poland) students from Viscardi-Gymnasium, Fürstenfeldbruck (Germany) are looking into all these questions.

Working together with their Italian, Polish and Swedish counterparts on cultural behaviour, exchanging information, making results available on the Internet, testing each other`s newly acquired knowledge they are putting friendship into a European perspective.

Over a period of three years, the four participating schools will be united in their effort to widen the knowledge about the 4 European member states on the basis of a permanent exchange of information and ideas, from concrete, every day experiences (for example school life and Christmas traditions) up to abstract concepts of cultural identity.

Highlights of this project are going to be several student meetings, starting with the first conference of delegated students in March 2007 and work placements of students. These activities are intended to eventually culminate in regular student and teacher exchanges.

The events and results of the project will be publicized on this homepage.
So all those who are interested in cultural identity and tools for friendship should take a look right away! , Toruń (Poland) students from
